A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) Diaspora in the UK, Prince Egbe Omorodion, on Monday, called on the people of Edo State to support the party’s governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, in the September 21st Edo governorship election, saying he is better equipped to lead the state if given the mandate.
He expressed dissatisfaction that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political party candidates have not made themselves available to discuss their plans for the people, unlike Akpata.

Omorodion, a former contestant for the Edo Labour Party governorship ticket, disclosed this to The Guardian ahead of the governorship election via a virtual meeting, where he pledged his unwavering support for the LP to win the September Edo governorship poll.
Endorsing the party’s candidate during the virtual meeting of LP stakeholders, Omorodion expressed optimism about LP clinching the governorship seat due to Akpata’s acceptability by the people and the party’s preparedness.
He lauded Akpata’s integrity and suitability for the job, stressing his impeccable record as a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Omorodion noted that candidates like Akpata are rare, expressing concerns over the credentials of other political party candidates in the governorship race.
Despite initial disappointment over not securing the LP ticket, Omorodion noted his belief in Akpata’s competence and his superior readiness to lead Edo State, thus fully backing his governorship ambition.
Akpata expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and stressed the need for collective effort towards the party’s success at the poll.
