Enugu lawmaker promises inclusive representation

The member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prof. Paul Nnamchi, has vowed to run an open door and inclusive policy throughout his stay in the National Assembly.

Nnamchi, who is a Labour Party (LP) member, made the pledge in his Ako-Nike community in Enugu East Local Council during his post inauguration reception that attracted thousands of notable Nigerians and well wishers.

He assured his constituents that the confidence they reposed in him through their votes would be rewarded, stressing that he would close the leadership gaps that have denied them opportunities in government.

Addressing supporters and party faithful that included the Enugu State governorship candidate of the party, Chijioke Edeoga; former Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji and several others, he said: “I will make myself accessible to all, especially people of my constituency. I will be a representative that the people can see, reach and touch as well as answer the call of my constituents anytime.”

Nnamchi said he had kick-started his empowerment programme prior to his election, which is founded on his initiative christened ‘Prof. Paul Nnamchi Tech-hub and Youth Innovation (PPNTAYI)’, stressing that the sole target was to lift the people out of poverty.

He stated that the programme started with computer training, digital soft skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for youths and pupils of school age within the PPNTAYI initiative.

“As you can see and notice, we don’t have roads in the constituency. I intend to attract more road projects to this area.

“I will ensure we also have a good road network that will link the whole constituency as it will lead to rapid development of this area,” he assured.

On education, the representative said that he would have indirect intervention in education, adding that he would bring into play informal education that would be of a great benefit to the people by raising their socio-economic status.

He expressed gratitude that God had used him to make “a son of nobody to become somebody”.

He said that anybody within his constituency, especially youths, could achieve great things notwithstanding his or her humble or low beginning as well as background.
