AMERICAN-based firm, Base Seal International Incorporated has concluded an agreement with the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to set up chemical production plant for the road maintenance projects in the country.

The firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Danny Bowel, who disclosed the pact in Abuja on a visit to appreciate the agency for partnering with the firm, said the plant will serve as soil stabilisation during road rehabilitation and construction.

Represented by Mr. Ike Onyiuke of Stabilisation Engineering Limited, he explained that they were pleased with the trust the agency reposed on Base Seal, which has precipitated the use of its product (BS-100) chemical for road projects in Nigeria. He observed the successful adaptation of the chemical as an alternative to stone base for projects execution.

Earlier, Managing Director of the Agency, Nuruddeen Rafindadi, an engineer, expressed delight to receive Bowers and Onyiuke to Nigeria, saying, partnering with them has been of great advantage to fulfilling their mandate of maintaining roads.

Rafindadi also noted the product has ensured that Nigerian roads are in good condition at all times, explaining that the use of Base Seal has replaced the tedious use of stone base and laterite, thereby reducing the cost of transporting laterite or stone base to construction site.

He said the longevity of the roads constructed with it will speak for itself and seeing the result, major stakeholders in the road industry would demand for the chemical and this will foster to establish the production plant in Nigeria.

Also, Atiku Abubakar, an engineer, argued that liquid chemical is developed to penetrate and create a hard resilient pavement layers and cement loose materials on the road constructions in States like Katsina, Sokoto, Ekiti, Edo, Niger and Borno.
