Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk revealed his top five favourite songs ahead of the EFL Carabao Cup Final 2024.
The Dutch defender’s matchday playlist features Nigerian Afrobeat artists Omah Lay, Asake, and Rema. The playlist, which was shared on EFL’s TikTok page, also included tracks by The Notorious B.I.G and Mase, the only non-Nigerian artists on the list.
Van Dijk said that he preferred Afrobeats because it gives him “nice vibes”.
He said: “Number one is Omah Lay with ‘Holy Ghost.’ Amazing! Check it out. It puts you in the mood. The second one is Mase with ‘Feel So Good.’ A very good classic. Incredible! Then the third one is The Notorious B.I.G with ‘Mo Money Mo Problems.’ Nice vibes, you get me?”
“So, number four is Asake with ‘Lonely At The Top.’ A nice one, nice vibes. Hopefully, the sun is shining, it will be nice. And my fifth one is Rema with ‘Charm.’ Very nice.”

Virgil van Dijk has established himself as one of the finest defenders in world football since joining Liverpool FC in January 2018.
The Liverpool captain has won several titles since joining the Kop and will be looking to add another one to the list when he leads the Reds against Chelsea on February 25.
