Four dead, many injured, houses razed in Nasarawa communal clash

Communal clash persists in Nasarawa state

About four persons were feared killed following a communal conflict between the indigenous people of Alago and the Tiv of Keana in Keana Local Council.

An eye witness said the crisis resulted from a land dispute between the Alago and Tiv at the Benue/Nasarawa border community. The witness said four people were killed; two from Alago and two from the Tiv, while many houses were burnt down and several people wounded.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public affairs, Peter Ahemba, confirmed the development. He however said only one person was confirmed dead and that four others were wounded.

Ahemba said the situation had been brought under control by security operatives deployed to the area. He called for calm among the warring parties, saying killing and destruction do not provide solutions to misunderstandings.
