Grand 80th birthday gig for Akujuo in New York

Arrangements are in top gear for a grand 80th Birthday Celebration in New York City, for Lolo Dorothy Chinaka Akujuo, who recently retired as a Professor of English in New York.

Billed for March 4, 2023, friends, family and colleagues of this exceptional woman who has touched many lives in many different ways, will dressed in the best fashion money can buy, walk the red carpet at the sensational Leonard Palazzo, in Great Neck, ready for the sumptuous dinner banquet to celebrate the eventful life of the evergreen lady.

The event will also bring the cream of Nollywood to New York for the International Premiere of the epic movie, My Birthright, a story of the big clash of traditional Igbo culture faced with emerging European values in the 1960s. The new wiz boy of Nollywood movie making, Damola Akapo, the latest best graduating student of the Multi Choice Talent Factory (MFT), has shot this story told by Lolo Akujuo in living colour. Akapo is supported by legends of the Nigerian movie industry, including Patrick Doyle. The movie will be shown, for the first time, to a live audience at the banquet in New York City on March 4.

Lolo Dorothy Akujuo is the elder sister of Chief Tony Okoroji, celebrated former President of PMAN and Chairman of Africa’s foremost copyright collective management organisation, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).
