Kalu, Abaribe decry late arrival of materials

Oji Uzor Kalu
Senate Chief Whip and senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Abia North Senatorial District, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Abia South Senatorial District, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, have commended the conduct of yesterday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

They, however, decried late arrival of voting materials at various polling units across the state.

The duo also observed that election officials did not master the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) very well before being deployed to conduct the elections.

According to Kalu, BVAS is among the issues the Senate would revisit going forward.

Meanwhile, the candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP) for Ikwuano/Umuahia Constituency, Chief Paul Meregini, could not vote in the election after being cleared to cast his vote at his Ndume Ward polling Unit in Umuahia North Council.
This was because his party’s name and logo were not in the ballot paper.
Speaking with The Guardian after his botched attempt to vote, he urged INECto cancel the Constituency election, reprint the ballot paper with the name and logo of his party well captured and thereafter conduct a fresh election.

According to him, he would direct his lawyer to do the needful to ensure that justice would be done in the matter.
