As part of the cardinal focus of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, Revolution Plus Group, through its charity arm, Chris Bamidele Onalaja Foundation (CBOF), has provided medical care for rural communities on the outskirts of Lagos.
The foundation, at the weekend, took its medical outreach to Ogulu base, Osoroko community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, where it gave free medical care to over 500 persons, including children.
Speaking during the outreach, Dr Olayiwola Elisha Opeyem, who led the dental team, said the aim of the outreach was to bring free health care down to the down trodden.
“This is a local population where there are many people who can’t afford the needed medical care, so coming down to provide this is very essential.
“A lot of the people we attended to have bad dental conditions and it’s really bad because many of them have never visited a dental clinic.
“We examined their mouths and we saw a lot of grossly broken down teeth. They are not even aware of the cause, let alone how to present it. It’s sad. A lot of work still needs to be done on the aspect of public health.
“We need more activities, for the government to take the message to the downtrodden, and not just treatment alone. Logistically, when the people think about the treatment aspect, they get scared because they don’t have the finance. Sensitisation will go a long way,” he explained.
