Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has vowed to sensitise and fish out bad eggs among the pastoralists, especially those that are into illicit drugs, the proliferation of small arms and light weapons within their communities.

National president of the association, Baba Ngalzarman, while interacting with journalist’s in Paikoro Local Council of Niger State, at the weekend, noted that as leaders and parents, all hands must be on deck to sensitise the youths against all forms of criminality in the country.

While appreciating the efforts of security agencies towards protecting life and property, he appealed to them to always observe the rules of engagement in the discharge of the onerous duty of safeguarding the citizens.

Ngalzarman had claimed that the rate at which the military and vigilantes conduct their operations in some states, leading to the killing of cows is alarming, citing the bombing in the Giwa community of Nasarawa State.

He said: “We are mostly affected by the banditry and cattle rustling. No fewer than 15,000 pastoralists have been killed and four million cows rustled.”

On the food crisis rocking the country, the MACBAN president voiced the concerns of his association over the suffering in the land, and noted that the association had established a business arm, which will interface with critical stakeholders, especially traders from major markets in the country, to complement Federal Government’s efforts towards curtailing the food crisis across the country.
