The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked candidates sitting for Thursday’s mock-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to enter the examination hall with an ordinary HB pencil for numerical analysis if they so wish.

JAMB Spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, stated this in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement emphasised that other writing materials remain prohibited both in the mock-UTME slated for Thursday, March 7 and the main exam scheduled for April 19, 2024.

“This clarification became necessary following the series of inquiries from candidates and the general public alike regarding whether HP pencils are permitted in the examination hall as a writing material.

“Consequently, candidates are urged to note that they are to come with only one pencil to their respective examination centres as specified while ensuring that they are not in possession of any other prohibited items,” the statement reads.
