Ome Nma… Groovy praise song from Doris Dumah

Doris
Singer Doris Dumah recently dropped her latest single, Ome Nma, which is enjoying favourable airplay across the country.

Trained at MUSON School of Music, Lagos, Doris has been around for quite a number of years. She released her debut album, Gratefulin 2015 after which she took a four-year break from the scene to hone her craft and focus on raising her family. The gospel music powerhouse returned to the scene in 2019 and did some work with music minister and producer, Florocka. This yielded her second album, Only You Are God.

In 2022, she dropped the single, Ome Nma, a groovy song of praise done in a call-and-response style with Doris’ dynamic vocals driving on her backup singers. Particularly striking is her jaw-dropping mastery of melisma, as she dips and swoops, squeezing out endless notes from just one syllable. This ability reminds you of none other than the great Aretha Franklin.

Minister Doris as she’s fondly called, has a vision of reaching out to the lost and being a blessing to her generation through her music ministry. She has shared the stage with local and international gospel musicians including Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, Midnight Crew, Sinach, Nathaniel Bassey and Chioma Jesus. She has toured the United Kingdom and has ministered in places like House on the Rock, London; Chapel of Grace, Bradford; RCCG, House of Praise, Birmingham and more.

Indeed, Doris is a force to reckon with in the Nigerian gospel music industry. She has established herself as one of the leading female voices of contemporary gospel music with several nominations and awards to back the claim.
