Outrage as Marketers adjust pump to N620 in Kano

Filing stations in Kano on Tuesday readjusted their pump price to N620 per litre leaving several motorist confused on the sudden development.


Our correspondent who monitored the new development at filing station along Maiduguri road, Zaria road, Murtala Mohammad road, Zoo road and BUK road noticed some marketers selling at N620 while others shut down business.

Although, the usual long queues had disappeared in most of the filing stations visited, the new pump prize across stations majorly own by the Independent Petroleum Marketers, left several commuters stranded as commercial vehicles deserted major roads.

Observation at several bus stops in the metropolis shown passengers waiting endlessly for commercial buses who were forthcoming as a result of the fuel hike.

Apart from the regular commercial buses and taxis, tricycles had also discerted the roads as hundreds of them seen parked along the road as a result of the new pump price.

A taxi driver Aminu Yau who spoke to our correspondent at Maikifi petroleum along Maiduguri road said he was confused seeing the new adjusted prize without prior notice. He expressed disappointment that the new government would allow ordinary citizen suffer untold hardship.

Isiyaka Rabiu, a private car owners also lamented over the new development saying the negative impact of buying fuel for N620 per litre would not be palatable to ordinary citizen.

Rabiu who raised concern over the multiplier implication of the new prize, claimed that Nigerians would soon feel the negative impact on cost of food and other consumables.
