Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), yesterday, said it plans to collaborate with the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) to achieve a free and transparent council election scheduled to hold on April 27, 2024.

Chairman of OYSIEC, Isiaka Olagunju, who disclosed this to the media, said that the planned collaboration between OYISEC and OYACA was part of the measures considered important to make the council election credible and acceptable.

According to him, “the role of OYACA on election day would be strictly surveillance, close watch on those that might engage in vote-buying and to report those found culpable to the commission for appropriate action.”

He, therefore, advocated a positive mindset and change of attitude among residents in elections’ participation if Oyo must witness monumental development, particularly at the grassroots.

Olagunju, who said it was necessary for all stakeholders in the business of election conduct to play their roles as expected, to achieve a free, fair, transparent and credible election, also urged political parties to follow due process, hold campaigns peacefully and orientate their followers on a good path to follow.
