Governor Bassey Otu

.Calls on Cross Riverians to support administration

Cross River state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Prof. Sandy Onor, has congratulated the Governor, Bassey Otu, and his deputy, Peter Odey, on their victory at the Supreme Court, as the validly elected governor and deputy governor of the state.

Onor, in a statement signed by him, which was dated January 13, 2024, said that what is needed are support and prayers to make Cross River the dream homeland that all would cherish.

The statement reads in part: “I congratulate Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, for the successful journey from the primary through main election and ending at the Supreme Court, which typifies the entire gamut of any election style.”

He thanked his campaign organisation, the Caterpillar Movement, the leadership of PDP led by Venatius Ikem, the Catholics, the Protestant aisle, youths, elders, men, women, party faithful across the three senatorial zones, and even across parties. He also appreciated all those who shared in the genuine yearning and aspirations for the development of the state for their support.

Meanwhile, Otu dedicated his Supreme Court victory to the electorate in the state.
Otu who spoke yesterday shortly after the Supreme Court affirmed his election said the victory belongs to the electorate who braved all the odds on March 18, 2023, to vote for him and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said: “You (electorate) demonstrated your dedication to our nation by braving the elements, sacrificing your time and putting aside personal endeavours to answer the call to vote for the candidate who would lead Cross River State as governor.”

The governor stressed that with the outcome of the election finally laid to rest, it is now time for statesmanship.
