Some residents of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), yesterday, staged a counter-protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly to debunk the alleged accusation levelled against the Chairman, John Ogundare, over misappropriation of N1.9 billion 2023 budget.

It would be recalled that some residents of the LCDA had last week staged a protest alleging misappropriation of the budget by Ogundare.

Segun Williams, who led the protesters, urged the Assembly to act urgently on the matter.

Williams said the chairman had been indicted by an investigative report of the Legislative Council, saying that he did not deserve to remain in office.

However, a spokesperson for another resident, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Eti-Osa East LCDA, Adekunle Odunuga, refuted claims by those who recently visited the Assembly with a protest letter against the chairman.

“We are here to counter their protest. We do not even know who these people are. They are not residents of Eti-Osa East. Their allegations are baseless,” Odunuga said.

Chairman, House Committee on Tourism, Desmond Eliot, accompanied by Rasheed Adeola Shabi, who received the protesters on behalf of the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, said that the lawmakers would listen to all parties involved in the issue.

Eliot, thereafter, requested for a copy of the petition to be submitted to the House.
