Tinubu congratulates Kano governor on 61st birthday

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on his 61st birthday. The congratulatory message is contained in a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Ajuri Ngelale.

The statement reads: “Tinubu recognises the steadfastness implicit in the political trajectory of Governor Yusuf, rising through the political rung from personal assistant, commissioner to governor.

“The President wishes the governor success in the discharge of his duties.
“The President also prays that the Almighty grant the governor many more years in good health and strength.”

MEANWHILE, NNPP supporters in Dawakin Tofa have organised special prayer and peaceful demonstration in support of the governor, seeking divine favour ahead of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the March 18, 2023, governorship election in Kano.

Dawakin Tofais the ancestral homeland of the former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is a leading oppositionto the governor at the Supreme Court.


But the people, by the protest, expressed their support for Abba Yusuf. The demonstrators, predominantly women, declared unwavering support for Governor Yusuf and offered prayers and supplications for his ultimate triumph at the Supreme Court.

Gathering from various villages in Dawakin Tofa, they convened at the Bandirawo and Dawanau Central Mosque, seeking divine intervention in Yusuf’s case.
Addressing the gathering, the leader of the group, Idris Tela Dandalama, declared their support for Yusuf, who is not favoured by Gandujeat the ongoing legal battle at the Supreme Court.

“We are here to beseech Almighty Allah to uphold our mandate.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has successfully settled the arrears of pensions and gratuities for our retired husbands.

“He has facilitated the marriages of our daughters, ensured the timely payment of our salaries, empowered people living with disabilities, and sponsored our children to pursue Master’s degrees in various universities worldwide.”
