The Abuja correspondent of Radio France International (RFI) Hausa service, Kabir Yusuf, is dead.
President Bola Tinubu extended his condolences to the family of Mr. Kabir Yusuf, who passed away on Tuesday in Kano.
Tinubu prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and comfort to his family in this time of grief and always.
Yusuf passed on Tuesday night in Kano 48 hours after he returned from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he successfully covered and reported the 2024 hajj exercise.
He served on National Media Team for this year’s pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The Editor in Chief, RFI Hausa service, Bashir Idris, said the deceased, who returned from this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia a few days ago, died in Kano Tuesday night and will be buried on Wednesday.
“With complete submission to the Will of Allah, I regret to announce the death of our colleague and one of the pillars of RFI Hausa, Kabir Yusuf, our Abuja correspondent, who few days ago returned from pilgrimage in Makkah,” Idris said in a social media post.
“Kabir passed away in Kano last night and will be buried today. May Allah in His infinite mercies grant this gentleman Aljannah Firdaus.”
Coordinator of Independent Hajjreporters, Ibrahim Mohammad, described the late Yusuf as a quiet and humble gentleman who believed in humanity.
“I have worked with KABIRU Yusuf within hajj operations for more than 7 years and I have never heard any complaints about his conduct,” Mohammad said.
“My last conversation with him few days before his departure was when he called to commend our efforts and said I am his “boy”. We both laughed it off. May Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al Janna Firdausi Ameen.”
NAHCON spokesperson, Hajiya Fatima Usara, said Yusuf as a good and peaceful fellow, sought for mercies of the Almighty for the repose of the soul.
“Life is so transient. A good and peaceful man has returned to his Lord. May he enjoy Allah’s rahama. May his final hajj be recorded as hajj mabrur. May Allah reward him for all his contributions in uplifting people’s lives with jannatul Firdausi,” Usara said.
